Reuter, Owens Cut Lists; Include Friars
- Updated: July 28, 2014
Sunday night marked the end of the July Live Period, but news picked up in Providence as a pair of top 125 power forwards shortened their list of schools and both have included the Friars.
Alex Owens, ESPN’s 95th ranked player in the class of 2015 is a 6’8, 240 pound power forward from Florida. The one-time Central Florida commit is known as a very good rebounder and was just recently publicly linked to Providence. He tweeted on Sunday night that PC, Central Florida and Missouri are now the final three schools he’s considering.
An hour later Providence received more good news, as Brewster Academy power forward Jarred Reuter announced that PC is in his final five, along with Rhode Island, Iowa, South Carolina and Virginia. We’ve covered Reuter extensively over the past three seasons. Those looking for more information on Reuter can read Craig Leighton’s Closer Look or read our game story from when Reuter outplayed Abdul Malik-Abu in December 2012.
Reuter has been on campus several times, including for Late Night Madness, and was offered a scholarship in early June.
