Ben Bentil
Few freshmen big men are as physically ready for the rigors of the Big East as Ben Bentil. The Ghana native who comes to Providence by way of St. Andrew’s in Delaware, the 6’8, 230 pound Bentil is an imposing big man who is both active and quick.
Ranked in the top 100 by both Scout and Rivals, Bentil was the third prospect to pledge to Cooley and the Friars in the class of 2014, joining 7’2 center Paschal Chukwu and 6’7 wing Jalen Lindsey – both of whom are top 100 recruits in their own right.
In a deep and veteran frontcourt (the Friars have a pair of seven footers in Chukwu and fifth year senior Carson Desrosiers, in addition to 6’9 Tyler Harris and 6’6 LaDontae Henton) Bentil brings an element of physicality that will enable him to see additional time.
Here is Friarbasketball.com’s season preview of Bentil.
