Providence Jamfest Tips Off on Saturday

The annual Providence Jamfest takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Rhode Island College and other locations throughout Rhode Island. Annually the Providence Jamfest brings some of the area’s top high school talent to the Ocean State.

Alumni of previous Jamfests include Kris Dunn, Tyler Harris, Paschal Chukwu, Andre Drummond, Kuran Iverson, Michael Carter-Williams, and Ricky Ledo.

This year’s Jamfest features two of New England’s premier 17u AAU teams, the Mass Rivals and the New England Playaz. Both teams are loaded with potential PC recruits.

Some of the Friar targets on the Mass Rivals, coached by Vin Pastore, include:

Makai Ashton-Langford, 6’2 pg, Cushing Academy, 2017

Wabisa Bede, 6’0 pg, Cushing Academy, 2017

Aaron Wheeler, 6’6 f, St. Andrew’s, 2017

A.J. Reeves, 6’4 g, Brimmer & May, 2018

Jarrod Simmons, 6’8 f, Cushing Academy, 2017

Makhtar Gueye, 6’10 f, Winchendon, 2017

The New England Playaz, coached by John Carroll, also has several PC recruits on their roster including:

Tomas Murphy, 6’9 f, Northfield Mount Hermon, 2017

Nate Laszewski, 6’i f, Northfield Mount Hermon, 2018

Jerome Desrosiers, 6’6 f, Northfield Mount Hermon, 2017

There will be a total of 60 teams competing in the 17u division at Rhode Island College. The other divisions will be competing at other locations in the state. The New England Playaz first game will be at the Murray Center on the Rhode Island College campus followed by the Mass Rivals at 7:10.
