A Closer Look: Brodricks Jones
- Updated: July 12, 2015
Friarbasketball.com will take a closer look at a number of key PC recruiting targets. Our staff will continue to provide reports on the top Friar targets throughout the year, and offer updates on prospects that have been previously featured.
Prospect: Brodricks Jones
Position: PF
School: Lawndale High School (CA)
AAU Program: California Supreme
Class: 2015
Overview:
After recently qualifying academically Brodricks Jones decided to decommit from San Diego State and reopen his recruitment. Jones is a tremendous athlete who gets up and down the court extremely well for his size. Here are a couple of highlight videos of Jones in action:
Jones has a nice outside shot and good medium range moves. He will need to put on additional weight and muscle to be successful at the next level.
What Others are Saying:
ESPN says that “Jones has a tremendous frame with very long arms and he is quite explosive. He runs like a deer in transition and is a very fluid athlete with great feet and outstanding athleticism overall. He can score with dunks in transition, put-backs, and an occasional drop-step move. In addition, he can step out and hit elbow jump shots and his shot is smooth. He gets most of his points off of put-backs and finishing in transition (runs like a deer). Defensively, he has excellent timing as a shot blocker and due to his length he can alter shots as well.”
Scout says that “Jones is already very mobile and athletic for his size and is still expected to grow a couple more inches. Jones is very long, has good hands, a nice face-up game, is good on the offensive glass and while strength is currently an issue, when he hits his final height and gets stronger, he should be a very good player.”
Rivals says that “Jones is a thin big man who is developing as a shot blocker/rebounder and runs the floor incredibly well. He shows flashes on offense but is still more potential than production at this stage in his development.”
The Competition:
Jones recently narrowed the list of schools he is considering to four. Besides the Friars he is still considering UTEP, Syracuse, and Memphis.
The Bottom Line:
Any time you can be in a player’s final four list at this late stage is a good sign. The Friars can offer Jones a good deal of playing time with the top point guard in the country. He also seems to already have a good relationship with fellow Californian Kyron Cartwright. Jones would be a great addition at this late stage of the season.

A kid from Memphis just decided to transfer too, a 2015 Soph. I think. He would have to sit out wherever he goes.
