247 Sports updated their national rankings for the class of 2021 on Wednesday. There are a number of Friar targets and Big East commitments among the group of 150 prospects.

Big East commitments:

#53 Trey Patterson, 6’7 wing from New Jersey — committed to Villanova

#65 Ahamad Bynum, 6’1 shooting guard from Chicago — committed to DePaul

#105 Nnanna Njoku, 6’9 center from Delaware — committed to Villanova

#111 Keon Edwards, 6’7 wing from Hillcrest Prep in Arizona — committed to DePaul

#124 Ryan Nembhard, 6’1 point guard from Montverde Academy in Florida — committed to Creighton

Providence targets:

#73 Eric Van Der Heijden, 6’9 wing from North Carolina

#102 Cesare Edwards, 6’10 big from South Carolina

#118 Kuluel Mading, 6’9 big from North Carolina

#136 Bensley Joseph, point guard from Massachusetts

#149 Gianni Thompson, 6’8 wing from Massachusetts

Summary: Edwards has been listed with Providence in the past, but today 247 did not include the Friars among his list of current suitors… Thompson, who was featured here earlier today, was one of the biggest risers in the country. He jumped a whopping 81 spots in their rankings… Van Der Heijden is another big riser, going from #146 to #73 in today’s rankings. His most recent offers include Maryland, Texas, Xavier, and Louisville. The Cards offered last week… Providence recently hosted a virtual call with Joseph, a point guard who just transferred from Cushing Academy to Putnam Science. It’s unclear the level of interest he has in the Friars currently… Mading is an athletic shot blocker that Providence offered this spring.
