Virtual Town Hall a Success
- Updated: May 31, 2020

On Thursday night Providence hosted a recruiting town hall for season ticket holders. The one hour virtual meeting featured PC assistant coaches Jeff Battle and Bob Walsh, who gave Friar fans a look behind the curtain both in terms of recruiting and player development.
It was terrifically done and well worth a watch. Battle and Walsh shared their perspective on recruiting at Providence and for Ed Cooley, what they have learned throughout their careers on the recruiting trail, and how their recruiting philosophy has evolved at PC.
My favorite tidbit from Battle was when he referred back to advice he got from mentor Skip Prosser when recruiting: “When you go see a kid play don’t complicate it. You’re either excited or your not. Don’t force it.”

The staff is hoping Jimmy Nichols can take a big step forward this year. They cited how David Duke’s late season emergence was key to the turnaround. Nichols used last year to become more of a student of the game.
