Providence Picked 4th, Diallo 1st Team in Preseason Poll

The Big East held its basketball media day today, and Providence was picked to finish 4th by the league’s coaches. Seton Hall edged out Villanova for the top spot in the preseason poll, followed by Xavier, Providence/Marquette (tied for 4th), Georgetown, Creighton, Butler, St. John’s, and DePaul.
The Hall’s Myles Powell was named Preseason Player of the Year, while Villanova’s Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, a 6’9 McDonald’s All American selection, was tabbed Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Providence senior Alpha Diallo was a unanimous pick for 1st Team All Big East. He was the only Friar named to a preseason team. Here is the complete list:
