Friars Among Final Five for 2020 Center Xavier Foster
- Updated: August 5, 2019
Ed Cooley and his staff have gone big game hunting in the class of 2020, and they recently made the final list for yet another top prospect.
Center Xavier Foster is a top 50 player nationally in the class of 2020 (44 on ESPN, 41 on 247sports, and 40 on Rivals), and he announced on Monday that Providence was among his final five schools. The Oskaloosa, Iowa native also included in-state programs Iowa and Iowa State, as well as Baylor and Virginia Tech.

Providence’s inclusion is likely a surprise nationally. Iowa and Iowa State began recruiting him in 2016, and Baylor followed sooner after. He had also received interest from Kansas, UCLA, USC and others. Providence offered him a scholarship this past May, but apparently made an impression. Reports out of Iowa are that Foster wants to visit all five schools on his list. He already officially visited Iowa, Iowa State, and Baylor.
Foster is thought to be the best prospect to come out of Iowa in years. He is a seven footer with athleticism, shot blocking upside, and shooting touch.
The Foster news comes on the heels of fellow four star 2020 recruits Earl Timberlake, Hunter Dickinson, Niels Lane, and Lance Ware all including PC in their shortened lists over the past week. I’ll have more on Ware later this week.

He cares about the team a lot, but thinks in a different way than the average fan! I must admit, reading his comments is like reading those of Flowers for Algernon..
