See the Pan Am Team Scrimmage at Alumni Hall
- Updated: July 12, 2019
Providence’s athletic department announced this week that the school will be hosting a scrimmage for the Pan American Games in Alumni Hall on Wednesday, July 24th at 6:00 p.m.
The team is made up of 15 current and former Big East players and his coached by Ed Cooley. Five Friars are on the roster, including Alpha Diallo, Nate Watson, AJ Reeves, David Duke, and Luwane Pipkins.
Tickets are $10 each and seating is general admission.
The Pan American Games are a multi-sport event featuring teams from North, South and Central American and the Caribbean, which are organized by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) and played every four years in the year preceding the Olympics (2019, 2023, etc.).
This year’s games will take place in Lima, Peru, on July 31-August 4.
The roster is highlighted by Seton Hall star Myles Powell. The sweet shooting guard should garner preseason All American honors after averaging nearly 23 points per game as a junior.
For PC fans, next week’s scrimmage and the games to follow will be an opportunity to see five of their own against high level competition. Prior to the games, the roster will be cut to 12 players with three alternates. Cooley’s assistants include Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard and Brown head man Mike Martin.
The team will practice at Providence’s Ruane Center from July 21-26.
