Providence Picked 3rd in the Big East

Now what are we going to gripe about?

Every October the Big East Holds its annual Media Day in New York, and, in what has become a rite of fall, Friar fans channel their inner-Rodney Harrison and cite a lack of respect from the league’s coaches.

Between the preseason all-conference teams or the projected league standings, the annual refrain from Providence supporters has been about how their team is being short-changed yet again.

That won’t be the case in 2018.

Projected conference finish? Third, behind defending national champion Villanova and a Marquette club that is getting all sorts of love nationally this preseason.

All Conference Selections? Junior Alpha Diallo was one of six players named preseason 1st Team All Big East.

Freshman of the Year? Providence native David Duke was named co-freshman of the year in the Big East, along with Villanova point guard Jahvon Quinerly.

Diallo and Duke were joined by senior Emmitt Holt and sophomore Nate Watson in New York.

…after graduating four Seniors who saw lots of minutes? I guess it’s official; Coach Cooley has built himself a program.
