Report: Ashton-Langford Officially Visiting PC

MAL 4-6-17

Just six days after announcing he was de-committing from Connecticut and reopening his recruitment, Brewster Academy point guard Makai Ashton-Langford has plans on visiting Providence.

ESPN’s Adam Finkelstein reported tonight that Ashton-Langford will take an official visit to PC over the weekend.

This news comes after Ed Cooley and assistant coach Brian Blaney visited Brewster’s campus this afternoon (as first reported by Mike Hopkins).

Ashton-Langford is a top 40 player nationally in the class of 2017, and a recruit who strongly considered Providence before committing to UConn last September. PC was his other finalist in the fall.

He is a phenomenally quick point guard out of Worcester, MA who began is high school career at St. Peter-Marian in Worcester before transferring to Cushing Academy and eventually wrapping up his career by leading an undefeated Brewster squad to a prep national title this season.

A commitment from Ashton-Langford would give Providence its best recruiting class since the 2014 haul of Ben Bentil, Jalen Lindsey, Paschal Chukwu, and Kyron Cartwright. It would also give Ed Cooley his first top 40 pledge since Kris Dunn and Ricky Ledo in 2012.
