Twitter Reactions: Dunn Repeats as BE Player of the Year
- Updated: March 9, 2016
Kris Dunn has been named both the Big East Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches. Dunn becomes just the sixth player in league history to win Player of the Year twice, and is one of only two players ever to win both awards twice (Patrick Ewing was the other).
He is the only guard to win both awards in a season — a feat Dunn has now accomplished twice.
While a case could have been made for Dunn’s teammate Ben Bentil (leading the league in scoring by almost four points per game), Seton Hall’s Isaiah Whitehead (the folks in Jersey are not too pleased with this decision judging by the reaction online) or Villanova’s Josh Hart (15.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg), no one filled every column of the stat sheet quite like Dunn.
He finished the season fourth in the Big East in scoring (16.3 ppg), was top 20 in rebounds (5.7), and was second in assists (6.4). Dunn and Creighton’s Mo Watson (6.6 assists per game) were the only players in league to average over five assists per game.
Dunn finished the season with 79 steals — 32 more than anyone else in the Big East.
Here are some of the reactions across Twitter:
