Five star power forward Wenyen Gabriel, the number 23 player in the ESPN class of 2016, has decided to attend the University of Kentucky. Gabriel chose the Wildcats over PC, Duke, Maryland, and UConn.

Gabriel had long been one of PC’s top recruiting priorities but his recruitment exploded as he shot up the national player rankings during the summer AAU season.

With Gabriel off the board the Friars  now have three primary targets they will concentrate on.

Their top target is Sedee Keita, a 6’10 power forward who will be playing this year at Putnam Science Academy. Keita is scheduled to make an official visit to Providence during Late Nite Madness in a couple of weeks.

Another top target it 6’8 Kevin Marfo from Worcester Academy. Marfo visited PC last weekend and is also considering Boston College and George Washington University in addition to the Friars.

PC is also going very hard after Jalen Johnson, a 6’7 wing player from Wesleyan Christian in High Point, NC. Johnson,, who recently took an official visit to PC, is also considering Florida and Tennesee.

PC is looking to add potentially three players to the team from the class of 2016 and already have a commitment from four star point guard Maliek White from Richmond, VA.
