The Providence Friars defeated Boston University 4-3 at the TD Garden to capture their first National Championship. Trailing 3-2 PC scored two goals in a two minute period to take the lead with 6:17 left in the third period. The Friars then held off the Terriers for the last six minutes to capture the title.

The tying goal was scored on a misplay by BU goalie Matt O’Connor at the 8:36 mark. Two minutes later Brandon Tanev scored the game winner on a feed off of a face off from Kevin Rooney.

Friarbasketball.com will have complete details on the PC victory and National Championship in tomorrow’s Friar Starting Five.
