Dunn 2nd Team All American by NBC Sports

krisdunnlightning

Providence point guard Kris Dunn has been named a second team All American by NBC Sports. Joining Dunn on the second team are Delon Wright of Utah, Rakeem Christmas of Syracuse, Rico Gathers or Baylor, and Buddy Hield of Oklahoma.

Named to the first team are Frank Kaminsky of Wisconsin, Jahil Okafor of Duke, D’Angelo Russell of Ohio State, Jerian Grant of Notre Dame, and Willie Cauley-Stein of Kentucky.

Here is what they said about Kris:

Kris Dunn, Providence (15.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 7.4 apg): The only reason Dunn isn’t in the conversation for National Player of the Year is that he turns the ball over too much. He was completely dominant at times this season.

In addition, NBC Sports has also named Dunn Big East Player of the Year. LaDonate Henton joins Kris Dunn on the All Big East First Team. Here is what NBC Sports said about Kris:

Two years had gone by and we had only seen a glimpse of Kris Dunn, the former McDonald’s All-American. Finally healthy, the Providence guard has played his way into All-American consideration, averaging 15.5 points, 7.4 assists — ranks him third nationally — 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals — fifth nationally. Turnovers are an issue, but no one in the Big East can take over a game like Dunn can.

Good for him! But there’s plenty of unfinished business left this season. Can anyone explain how the Big Easts leading scorer gets left off?
