The Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award is named after Hall of Famer and 11-time NBA All-Star Julius Erving. The annual honor, in its inaugural year, recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 15 candidates.

Henton, who has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week twice this season, is leading the Friar offense and the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 20.5 points per game. He also ranks seventh in the nation in points per game. He has scored 21 or more points in 14 of the 26 games this season, including 38 versus Notre Dame (November 23), 29 versus Yale (November 28), 27 against UMass (December 20), 25 versus Miami (December 22), 35 versus Creighton (December 31) and 28 against Marquette (January 3).

Henton is trying to become just the second player all-time at Providence to score 2,000 or more points and register 1,000 or more rebounds. Henton has recorded 1,924 points in 127 games (15.1 ppg). He also has grabbed 982 rebounds (7.7 rpg). He ranks sixth all-time in scoring at Providence and seventh all-time in rebounds.

Henton was named to the 2015 Second Team Preseason All-BIG EAST squad. In 2014, he earned BIG EAST All-Tournament Team accolades after the Friars captured the BIG EAST title.
