This Week in the Big East: Dunn’s Star Rising

dunnpassing2

From this week’s column:

With all due respect to Sterling Gibbs, D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Darrun Hilliard (who was huge this week for Nova), a case can be made that Dunn was the Big East’s best player through two weeks of conference play.

No other Big East player is impacting the game in as many ways as the third year guard. In conference games, he’s sixth in the league in scoring (14.5), ninth in rebounding (6.0), first in assists by a wide margin (8.8), sixth in steals, 12th in blocked shots and fourth in minutes played per game.

Nationally, he’s first in the country in assist rate and 14th in steal percentage (per kenpom.com).

More significantly to the Friars, his play this past week is the difference between a first place 3-1 standing in Big East play versus a 1-3 start.

He’ll be very dominant if he can make some outside jumpers to open up the lane even more!

I like Dunn but he has some work to do on his outside jumper and finishing at the rim.
