15 in 40: LaDontae’s Time

Special to CoxHub, Friarbasketball.com’s Kevin Farrahar goes in depth with Providence senior LaDontae Henton, who touches on the strength of his relationship with Ed Cooley, the “special” chemistry of last season’s team, how he’s committed to being a mentor to the program’s younger players and how he and Cooley took a chance on each other when the coach first arrived at PC.

From the article:

For Henton, Cooley was the deciding factor. “When I came on my visit there was just something about coach. He has this charisma about him and I could see myself playing for him for four years. I trusted in him and believed in what he was telling me,” Henton shared.

From the start, Cooley has gushed about Henton, a pit bull of a 6’5 power forward who has already started 100 games in his Providence career. The feeling is mutual. “He (Cooley) is like a father figure to me,” Henton said. “He’s been in my life for the better. I was his first recruit, so I trusted him and believed in him, and he did that in turn with me. For that, I have a bond with him that is going to last forever.”
