F.O.F.B. Charity Golf Tournament
- Updated: July 5, 2014
On Saturday August 9, the Friends of Friar Basketball organization will be holding their 2nd annual charity golf tournament at Cranston Country Club. The mission of the organization is to bring together members of the Friar Basketball family, including past players, coaches and supporters, to bolster the community within the Friar family through networking, mentoring, and charitable donations.
Last year’s tournament was a huge success as a large amount of former players were in attendance and the group raised over $13,000 for the men’s basketball program. This year, the group hopes that even more former players will make there way back to the Ocean State to join in on the festivities. Since Ed Cooley took over the PC basketball program in 2011, he has continuously voiced that all former players and coaches are always welcome back to Friartown, something that the Friends of Friar Basketball organization has echoed strongly. The following players and supporters participated in the groups first annual tournament last year:
Joe Hassett, Harold Starks, Jacek Duda, Bill Eason, John Linehan, Carlton Screen, Ruben Garces, Chris Carter, Kevin Reilly, Al Roth, Dave Kipfer, David Frye, Paul Oristaglio, Mark McAndrew, Matt Palazzi, John Nolan, Jerry Scott, Aubrey Stallworth, Quinton Burton, Sean Canty and Ryan Ford as well as F.O.F.B. Board members, Domenic Coletta, David White, Jim Iacoi, and Ron Greco.
As part of the upcoming golf tournament, the group is still in search for several sponsors as well as foursomes to complete the field. Sponsorships begin at $125 for tee signs and range to $2,5oo for the event’s title sponsorship. The cost of playing in the tournament is $125 per person, which includes: greens fees, golf cart, registration gifts, lunch, dinner, driving range, and refreshments.
