Cotton’s Top 10 Games: Pulling Away at the Hall

Friarbasketball.com takes a look back at the top ten games of Bryce Cotton’s senior season.

Game: February 28th at Seton Hall.

Breakdown: Providence’s tournament hopes seemed to be fading by late-February, as the Friars had lost four of five on the road heading into a pair of road games versus Butler and Seton Hall. Their most recent loss was most painful — a double overtime thriller to Villanova that would have sent PC’s RPI sky rocketing.

Much was made of Cotton’s unending endurance over the past year. In the 14 games leading up to this road trip, Cotton sat for a grand total of one minute. He’d twice gone the full 50 minutes in double overtime games, and he scored 20+ points in all but two games during that stretch.

The Friars took down Butler in the opener of the road trip (more on that one later in this countdown) and they went back and forth against Seton Hall five days later.

Cotton had been quiet throughout the first half of this one. He’d scored just five points in the game’s first 19 minutes, but closed the half with a dunk off of a turnover and then exploded for 17 second half points to lead PC to a 74-69 victory that gave them their 19th win of the season.

Providence was squarely on the bubble by the end of February, with Senior Night against Marquette and a road trip to Creighton ahead to close the season.
