Jalen Lindsey Catches Fire at Nationals

2014 Providence signee Jalen Lindsey was the last Friar commit to wrap up his season on Friday, as his Huntington Prep team fell in the final two minutes to undefeated Monteverde Academy yesterday afternoon.

The loss was disappointing, but his performance in the high profile tournament was anything but, as Lindsey caught fire from deep in the second half. After a largely quiet first, Lindsey sent Huntington into the locker room with the lead after swishing a corner 3 in the closing seconds, then he made three more from deep in the second half — only one of which even grazed the rim.

While Josh Fortune started to emerge as a consistent outside threat in February, there are questions about who will fill the shooting void left behind by Bryce Cotton. That’s where Lindsey’s showing on national television was so encouraging. He has terrific form and elevation on his jump shot. Like any freshman, consistency will be an issue, but it is easy to imagine Lindsey becoming a big time shooter at Providence throughout his career here.

Once again, FriarTV came through clutch for Friar fans and pulled together highlights from each of Lindsey’s games during this tournament.
