Providence Offers Curtis Cobb

Providence became the second high major school to offer 2015 wing Curtis Cobb this week, according to the Mass Rivals’ Twitter account on Saturday.

Cobb’s name is a familiar one to the more dedicated recruiting followers of Friartown. The 6’3 guard played on a deep Wilbraham and Monson squad last year that never seemed to play up to their talent level. Cobb transferred there last year from Durfee High School in Massachusetts.

That wasn’t the only change Cobb made of late. He’d played with BABC on the AAU circuit since 2008, and throughout a portion of this spring as well, but he began running with the Rivals (Kaleb Joseph, Jalen Adams, Goodluck Okonoboh, Josh Sharma) this summer.

I was impressed with Cobb’s skill set at the Fitzy All Star Games in Newton, MA in March, and he was solid for W&M at the National Prep School Invitational in February, despite an up and down weekend from his team. Cobb is a good shooter and appeared to be a solid finisher, but I’ll need another look or two to be able to provide a better scouting report. His long arms allow him to play bigger than he stands.

Connecticut was the other school to offer this week.
