Basketball Diary: Ed Cooley and Bob Simon at the Providence Elite Camp

The Basketball Diary is fast becoming one of the best sources of basketball videos at a variety of levels, and Craig Leighton and I were fortunate enough to meet the man behind the camera at the Elite Camp in August.  The Basketball Diary has seen over one million video views and has more than 1,000 subscribers to his rapidly growing youtube page

The camp featured a number of high-level prospects, including future star Donovan Mitchell, a terrific guard out of New York from the class of 2015.  Other attendees included Midnight Madness attendees Aaron Falzon (St. Mark’s) and Josh Sharma (Northfield Mount Hermon), as well as Fairfield Prep seven footer Pascal Chukwu, New Hampton power forward Jeremy Miller, an the emerging Terrance Mann from Tilton.

Here’s my article from the event, plus a follow-up the next day  on Terry Larrier, who did not have interest from Providence in publications prior to the event, but began including PC in the weeks afterwards.  With Rodney Bullock committing to the Friars as part of the class of 2013, the small forward position is looking stacked for Providence, with sophomore LaDontae Henton, North Carolina State transfer Tyler Harris, Bullock and Ricky Ledo potentially seeing minutes there next season and beyond.

Larrier is a bit of an under the radar recruit, playing a more complementary role for AAU powerhouse Team SCAN.  He’s a 2014 sleeper at the high-major level who is most likely less of a priority for PC with the projected depth at his position. He looked more athlete than polished product at the camp.
