Ted Bancroft
A 6’5 walk-on out of Marion, MA, Ted Bancroft became a fan favorite under Ed Cooley thanks to his energy and defensive tenacity. Bancroft was one of Providence’s most effective defenders as a junior, and was particularly disruptive when paired with Kris Dunn in picking up full-court.
His size made him particularly difficult when he played at the top of a 2-3 zone, and unlike many walk-ons he was not overwhelmed by the athleticism of Big East guards, as he was a solid on-ball defender as well.
As a senior last season, Bancroft stood out against Creighton at home, helping to harass National Player of the Year Doug McDermott, who expressed his surprise to find that Bancroft was a walk-on.
Returning for a fifth season, Bancroft adds depth and energy on the wing.
