Carson Desrosiers

After transferring to Providence from Wake Forest last year, Carson Desrosiers was forced to sit out a season, but he was a key defensive cog in the Friars’ run to the 2014 Big East Championship.

Desrosiers’ journey to Providence is an interesting one. A unanimous top 75 talent, he was recruited by former head coach Keno Davis, but instead joined a power-packed class at Wake and started 38 games in two seasons there before returning to New England (he’s a Windham, NH native) to finish out his college career.

While at Wake Forest, Desrosiers blocked 112 shots, placing him 11th all-time in school history. He was a two-time Massachusetts State Champion at Central Catholic and was ranked 64th overall by ESPN at the time of his graduation.

In 2013-14, Desrosiers led the Big East in blocked shots in conference play (2.2 per game in BE contests). He also had four blocks or more in eight games last season.

Now a 5th year senior, Desrosiers will be asked to take on a bigger role on the glass and in interior scoring following the departure of 2nd Team All Big East power forward Kadeem Batts. The hope in Providence is that Desrosiers and freshman Paschal Chukwu can mirror the defensive output of 7’2 senior Karim Shabazz and freshman 6’11 Marcus Douthit, who clogged the paint for the 2001 tournament team.
