Alpha Diallo Named 2nd Team All Big East

Alpha Diallo NY Post

Providence senior Alpha Diallo was named 2nd Team All Big East by the league’s head coaches, the Big East Conference announced on Sunday. This is Diallo’s second straight year on the All Big East team.

Diallo averaged 14.1 points and 7.8 rebounds on the season. He was fifth in the league in rebounds, fourth in steals, ninth in blocked shots, and third in offensive rebounds.

He kicked off his senior season with three straight double doubles, grabbing 34 rebounds in the season’s first three games. Diallo struggled at times with his decision making and shot selection, but scored in double figures in eight of PC’s last nine games. His strongest efforts came when he put up 35 points in an upset of #10 Seton Hall and when he carried the Friars late in a narrow win over Xavier last week (25 points).

Diallo shot nearly 39% from 3-point range in league play, as he cut down on his number of attempts and began attacking the rim with force. He has averaged nearly 18 points per game during Providence’s current six game winning streak. He had season highs of 17 rebounds (at St. John’s) and 20 free throw attempts (vs. Florida in Brooklyn).

He will close out his Providence career with over 1,600 points and 800 rebounds. Diallo currently sits at 1591 points and 833 boards.
