Twitter Reactions: Providence Upsets #16 Butler
- Updated: February 1, 2020
Luwane Pipkins played his best game as a Friar, scoring 22 points and making all ten of his foul shots to lead Providence to a 65-61 upset of #16 Butler on Saturday afternoon.
Pipkins and David Duke (10) were the only Friars to crack double figures in scoring, but PC responded to a number of second half Butler runs with timely scoring and solid defense. Maliek White was very effective against Kamar Baldwin, as Baldwin shot 4-15 from the field and 0-5 from deep.
Butler made 1-14 from beyond the 3-point arc, and Providence led 31-25 at the half, despite the Bulldogs taking 19 free throws. PC’s bench outscored Butler’s 27-1.
We will have a lot more on this game later tonight, but for now, here are some of the reactions from Twitter.

Providence head coach Ed Cooley continues to be a thorn in #Butler‘s Big East success.
Since the new Big East’s inception, Butler is just 4-12 against Cooley’s teams–and he’s won 5 of 7 matchups at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
