19-0 Spurt Lifts Hall Past PC

Hall

The road hasn’t been kind to Providence during its current three game trip.

Following an 89-69 loss to Villanova — a loss that included a 22-2 Nova run — the Friars headed to Newark on Wednesday night to take on Seton Hall. Jersey wasn’t any more hospitable, as the Pirates ripped off a 19-0 run in the first half and PC didn’t get closer than 12. The Hall won this one, 73-57.

Alpha Diallo was the bright spot for Providence. The sophomore has been playing at an extremely high level in conference play, and was a force taking the ball to the rim. Diallo recorded his second double double in Big East games, finishing with a career high 25 points.

It was fairly ugly for Providence otherwise. Seniors Kyron Cartwright and Jalen Lindsey were both held scoreless, combining to shoot 0-13 combined, while the Hall’s seniors produced. Angel Delgado notched his 66th career double double, while point guard Khadeen Carrington went 9-12 from the floor in scoring 23 points.

With the loss, PC drops to 14-8 on the season and 5-4 in conference. They’ll close out the road trip on Saturday afternoon in a return date with Marquette. The Golden Eagles defeated Providence in overtime earlier this month — a game in which Marquette sophomore Markus Howard tied a Big East record with 52 points.
