VIDEO: AJ Reeves Scores 34 in Brimmer Victory

Reeves PC Uni

While the news wasn’t good for Providence on the floor against URI on Saturday night, 2018 signee AJ Reeves continues to shine on the prep circuit.

After scoring 35 points in a season opening loss to Worcester Academy on Wednesday night, Reeves and his Brimmer & May team bounced back with a double digit victory Friday night against St. Sebastian’s. Reeves had 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win (http://friarbasketball.com/2017/12/02/brimmer-may-vs-st-sebastians-3-minutes/).

Saturday offered another opportunity for us to catch Reeves in-person, and he didn’t disappoint. He scored 34 points, as Brimmer took the lead twice in the closing 1:05, finally winning against Bridgton in the Zero Gravity Prep Classic.

This is a different Brimmer & May team this year, as bouncy big man Jordan Minor provides Tom Nelson’s group the interior presence it lacked last season. Minor plays hard — he’s active on the glass and a protector at the rim. When combined with Reeves and point guard Jimmy Yfantopulos, Minor gives Brimmer a solid trio.

Yfantopulos is a left handed point guard who adds scoring punch. His drive at the 1:05 mark put Brimmer ahead, and with under 30 seconds to go and his team down a point, Yfantopulos drove the lane, scored and was fouled. Brimmer wouldn’t trail again from that point.

Here is the game condensed to four minutes:
