Kris Dunn broke into Providence’s 1,000 point club in spectacular fashion. Shocker, right?
The latest in Dunn’s never-ending season highlight reel came on a ridiculous up and under left hander. If you missed it, enjoy.

With all of the recent fretting about Providence’s misfirings from deep (PC cut down on 3 pointers and made an efficient 5-11 in the win at Georgetown) and the every game genius of Dunn, the story of this season has shifted from the point guard’s greatness to Bentil’s emergence alongside him to where we’re at today: do Dunn and Bentil have enough around them to make a run in March?
But even as Dunn’s exceptional play has become the norm, there are games like Saturday night against Georgetown that serve as a reminder of how special he is.
The officials let Dunn play against the Hoyas, and the result was not only a 26 point night, but a hounding of All Big East guard D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera on the defensive end. DSR’s numbers were solid — 18 points on 7-15 shooting, but Dunn made his life difficult at significant moments.
Dunn stripped the Georgetown point guard with under 12 minutes to play when the Hoyas had cut a 12 point deficit to three. Dunn connected on a 3 pointer on the ensuing possession.
Dunn scored again on the next possession, which was followed by a miss by Smith-Rivera and another DSR turnover after Georgetown collected the offensive rebound.
Smith-Rivera was picked by Dunn with just over four minutes to play — the fourth steal of the game for PC’s star.
Smith-Rivera was 5-13 shooting before scoring six points in the final minute and a half as Georgetown scrambled to get back into the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome another outstanding two-way performance from the Big East’s best player.
Georgetown coach John Thompson III said it felt like Dunn had 12 steals when informed he finished with four and called Dunn a “one man wrecking crew.”

Kris Dunn’s last three games:
- 13 points, 14 assists in a win at Villanova
- 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 7 steals against Xavier
