Bentil Big East Player of the Week

Friar sophomore Ben Bentil was named Big East Player of the Week for the second time this season.

BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Jan. 25 that Providence sophomore forward Ben Bentil (Wilmington, Del.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. It marks the second time this season that he has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week.
Bentil led the Friars to two wins over ranked two teams last week as he averaged 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. He was 16-20 (80%) from the free throw line and 17-33 (52%) from the field in the two games. He averaged 42.5 minutes of play. Bentil scored a game-high 31 points, including 10 of the team’s 16 in overtime, as the Friars earned an 82-76 victory at No. 4/4 Villanova on Jan. 24. It was the team’s first road win over a top-five team since 2004. It was his 11th game this season with 20 or more points. He also had a game-high 13 rebounds. In the team’s other game of the week, Bentil scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 71-68 win over No. 18/24 Butler on Jan. 19.
Bentil leads the BIG EAST in scoring, averaging 19.8 ppg. He also ranks fifth in the conference in rebounding (8.2 rpg).
