News, notes, and opinions on Friar basketball while waiting for the Rhody Rams on Saturday.

  • Kris Dunn had his first triple double of the season last night wiht 16 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds. It won’t be his last.  Dunn also won his second Big East Player of the Week award this week and that will not be the last time for that either.
  • Here are some recaps of PC’s victory over the University of Hartford last night:

  • FriarTV has the full game replay in case you missed last night’s game:

  • If Jalen Lindsey can hit the outside shot on a consistent basis it makes the Friars a much better team as the court really opens up for both Kris Dunn and Ben Bentil.
  • It has been great to have the Cooley World Order back at the Dunk this year, the latest in a long line of Friar Zanies who have fired up crowds and upset opposing coaches and players throughout the years.
  • Don’t forget that the next Ed Cooley radio show is tonight at 7:00 pm live from Caserta’s Pizza on Federal Hill. I think tonight I am going for the Wimpy Skippy and also a couple of slices of pepperoni. The show will be aired on WEEI 103.7.
  • If you thought that the Friars would be ranked in the Top 25 at this point in the season raise your hand. This team is proving a lot of the prognosticators very wrong.
  • Butler’s victory over 17th ranked Cincinnati is just the latest in a series of good wins by Big East Conference teams. The Big East is proving that they belong right up there with the other power conferences.
  • The Zero Gravity Prep School Tournament begins tomorrow at St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, RI. Friarbasketball.com will have more on this tomorrow.
  • After six games Josh Fortune is averaging 10.2 points per game for the University of Colorado. He is shooting .429 from three point range while playing 22 minutes per game for the Buffaloes.
  • Tyler Harris is averaging 17 points and eight rebounds per game for the Auburn Tigers. He is shooting .527 from the field and .757 from the free throw line for Auburn, which currently has a 4-1 record.
