FOFB Weekend Kicks-Off

The Friends of Friar Basketball organization is set to kick-off their third annual weekend of events beginning tomorrow night at Finn’s Harborside Restaurant. The group, which was founded three years ago is led by Chris Carter, Domenic Coletta, Tom Fay, Ed Gately, Jacek Duda, Mike Lombardi, Jim Iacoi and Harold Starks. Joining together in effort to support the PC men’s basketball team, the group has raised over $25k since they started in 2012.

This weekend’s activities begin with a private party at Ed Cooley’s house tomorrow evening where roughly 60 former players, program supports, administration and coaches will get together. Included in that group are former coaches Tim Welsh and Pete Gillen. Following the barbecue, many of the former players will be making their way to the aforementioned Finn’s Harborside Restaurant for a night of reminiscing. All fans are welcome and encouraged to attend the event in East Greenwich.

Some of the players that have confirmed attendance include: Ernie DiGregorio, Kevin Stacom, Michael Smith, Ryan Gomes,  LaDontae Henton, Eric Williams, Dickey Simpkins, Billy Eason and many more. Players will likely arrive around 10 PM via the PC athletic bus.

F.O.F.B. President Chris Carter noted, “We would love to see as many fans and supporters at Finn’s on Friday night as possible! It will be a great chance for fans to see some familiar faces from the past and share stories from all the way back to the glory days to present day.”

On Saturday, things will resume with a golf tournament to be held at Cranston Country Club. While this year’s field is completely full, the group is already accepting sign-ups for next year’s event.
