Report: Shammgod to Return as Grad Assistant

Shammgod Clapping

John Rooke, the long-time voice of the Friars and columnist at WEEI.com, wrote in this week’s “Thinking Out Loud” article that God Shammgod is preparing to return to Providence as a graduate assistant.

From the article:

How about some good news, Friars fans? God Shammgod is preparing to enroll in graduate school at PC, to begin working toward a master’s degree in counseling. Somehow, that’s a perfect fit for him. And it’s a perfect fit for the program, as it means he’ll remain on the coaching staff as a grad assistant for next season.

Much has been written of Shammgod’s impact on PC’s guards over the past two seasons, specifically in the development of both Bryce Cotton and Kris Dunn. Shammgod, of course, is the former McDonald’s All American who helped led Providence to the Elite Eight in 1997. He quickly became a trusted voice for players up and down the Providence roster over the past two seasons and his return is welcome news in Friartown.
