Friar Starting Five: Thursday Edition

Kris Dunn March 2015

Here are links to five topics that may be of interest to Friar fans:

1. Bill Reynolds has a nice article on how Ed Cooley has put Providence basketball back on the map.

2. Rush the Court’s Justin Kudrat has an article on how the Big East fell flat, or did it?

3. PCBB1917 has a list of 5th year seniors who are transferring and will be immediately eligible next year.

4. The Michigan City News Dispatch has a nice article on future Friar Ryan Fazekas.

5. In case you missed it here it the latest edition of Here and There in Friartown. (Yesterday’s column says that the NCAA is doing away with the wavier next year that allows 5th year seniors who transfer to be immediately eligible. This is in error. What is actually happening is that next year the NCAA is doing away with hardship waviers that allow transfers to be immediately eligible).

Off the Bench

The Providence Journal’s Kevin McNamara notes that the RI State Senate supports the idea of an in-state college basketball tournament.

The New York Times has a great article on: Shrieking about Questionable Whistles in the NCAA Tournament.
