Ranking the Top 25 Players in the Big East

In “This Week in the Big East” I pulled together a ranking of the top 25 players in the Big East this season. Anyone too high? Too low?

With a week to go it’s become clear that Villanova’s Darrun Hilliard has the inside track on Big East Player of the Year, buoyed by a phenomenal month of February in which he scored 31 points and hit a game-winning 3-pointer against Butler, then torched Providence to the tune of 24 points on six 3-point field fields. Adam Zagoria explained how many Big East coaches feel the honor will eventually go to Hilliard.

Rather than focusing on the POY award, or even taking a shot at the All Conference teams, here you’ll find a ranking of the top 25 players in the Big East this season — much like John Gasaway rates the top 25 players nationally for ESPN (two Big East players made his list — Hilliard and Kris Dunn). This list is not an NBA prospect list, and it focuses heavily on production in conference play, where each team will play each other twice. The stats below are from conference games, unless otherwise specified.
