Jazz to Sign Cotton

cottonspurs

It’s about time. Bryce Cotton has finally been given an opportunity to prove himself in the NBA. As ESPN’s Marc Stein reported, the Utah Jazz will be signing the former Friar to a 10-day contract.

Cotton had originally received a two year contract from the San Antonio Spurs, but after getting waived, was sent to their D-League affiliate in Austin, TX. While in Austin, Cotton has averaged 22.6 points 4.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. Just four days ago, Cotton dropped 43 points on Reno while shooting 15-23 from the floor. That marked the 9th game this season where Cotton scored 30+ points in a contest.

It is an interesting but no-risk move by the Jazz as Cotton will join a back court of two other young guards in Dante Exum and Trey Burke. While a 10-day contract is not ideal, hopefully Cotton is given an opportunity to play and shows that he belongs in the NBA.

Plays behind two mediocre PG’s now who split minutes evenly. Give Bryce all the minutes!
