After averaging 16 points and 8.5 rebounds over two games PC freshman Ben Bentil was named Big East Rookie of the Week. Here is the complete press release from the Big East Conference with all of their weekly honors:

Feb. 9, 2015NEW YORK – Butler guard Kellen Dunham has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Providence freshman forward Ben Bentil has been tabbed BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. Dunham helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week by averaging 22.5 points per game. Bentil averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Friars.

BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK Kellen Dunham, Butler, G, Jr. Dunham led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week by averaging 22.5 points in wins over St. John’s and DePaul. The junior had a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds in an 85-62 win against St. John’s. He had 24 points in an 83-73 victory versus DePaul. For the season, Dunham is averaging 16.7 points, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST.

BIG EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Ben Bentil, Providence, F, Fr. Bentil averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. He scored 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in a 74-71 win at Georgetown. He had 16 points and six boards in a 78-69 loss at Xavier. For the two games, he also shot 82.4 percent (14-17) from the foul line.

BIG EAST Honor Roll Geoffrey Groselle, Creighton, C, Jr. Averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 68.8 percent from the field in a 1-1 week. Had 15 points and seven rebounds in a win at Xavier.

Jamee Crockett, DePaul, F, Sr. Averaged 17.5 points and shot 48.3 percent from the floor in a 1-1 week. Posted 21 points in a win against Seton Hall.

Sir’Dominic Pointer, St. John’s, F, Sr. Averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in a 1-1 week. Flirted with a triple-double against Creighton with 10 points, seven boards and eight blocks.

Darrun Hilliard, Villanova, G, Sr. Averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a 2-0 week. Scored a team-high 15 points in a win over Georgetown.

Jalen Reynolds, Xavier, F, So. Averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and shot 73.7 percent from the floor in a 1-1 week. Had a career-high 19 points in a win over Providence

    Way to go Ben! Though I now live I FL, I am still an avid PC fan. I am coming up for the game Saturday vs Seton Hall and I look forward to seeing you play in person. Go Friars!
