PC Squeaks by Georgetown

Another game and another huge second half/OT performance for Kris Dunn. Behind the blooming star’s 16 points and 9 assists, Dunn led the Friars to a 60-57 overtime victory over Georgetown this afternoon.

PC walked into the locker room at half-time with a 2-point lead but it didn’t last long after the break. Within the second half’s first three minutes, the Hoyas jumped ahead 27-25 and held that lead for nearly 15 minutes. At the 2:59 mark, Tyler Harris knocked down a three that tied the game up at 46-46.

Harris’ three was the last field goal that PC would make in regulation as Georgetown forced the Friars to make their free throws in the contest’s final minutes. Following a LaDontae Henton made free throw with 21 seconds left to play, Providence held a two point lead. After a Paul White missed three pointer, Georgetown big man, Josh Smith pulled down the offensive rebound and hit a put back jump shot sending the game into overtime.

In overtime Dunn was fantastic, outscoring the Hoyas on his own. Dunn’s 8 points coupled with Desrosiers made jumper, PC outlasted Georgetown in the five minute extra session.

Next up for the Friars will be St. John’s on Wednesday night. Now 3-1 in conference play, with a Villanova win over DePaul today, PC will be tied atop the Big East standings.

Dunn needs to be more careful with the ball. Couple times, he just handed the ball over. I agree, he needs to shoot more, period. They do go thru some lapses at times, and it is lucky, this time it didn’t hurt them! Still Got Work To Do!! Go Friars!!

Tyler Harris is a waste. Not sure why he played so much with 4 fouls and 0 points for most of the game!! Hoyas last 2 points of reg were his fault as well. Jus sayin…

Anyone burying Tyler Harris today didnt watch the game or at least the second half. He played great 2nd half and had some HUGE plays. Great win when the team couldn’t score. Great job by Cooley.
