PC vs Miami in 7 Minutes
- Updated: December 24, 2014
Our “PC in 7 Minutes” videos return with another look at the Friars’ impressive victory over Miami.
Two quick takeaways from re-watching this one:
1. What’s impressive for Providence is how they were equally effective scoring in transition in the first half and then grinding it out with their flex offense in the second. PC benefits from having big men like Carson Desrosiers and Ben Bentil who are comfortable passing 18 feet from the basket. Bentil threw a difficult pass to a posting Kris Dunn in the first half, while Desrosiers consistently hit Tyler Harris and LaDontae Henton coming off of curls in the second.
2. Kris Dunn seems even more dominant on second viewing. By my count he scored or assisted on 11 of PC’s first 14 baskets. What’s impressive about Dunn is how willing he is to advance the ball with the pass. He threw a beautiful pass the length of the floor to Henton for a layup, found Harris streaking ahead with a 30 foot pass for an easy score, connected with Jalen Lindsey for a 3 with another long look, and threw passes from around halfcourt for dunks by Bentil and Henton.
In an era of over-dribbling point guards, Dunn’s long passes got the Friars a number of easy baskets.
