Friar Basketball

Live From RIC: The Providence Jamfest

JarredReuter

The annual Providence Jamfest took place this past weekend at Rhode Island College and several other locations throughout Rhode Island. There were many great games over the course of the weekend highlighted by Sports U’s dramatic last second shot in overtime to defeat the New England Playaz in the 17 and under division. Below are my observations on some of the potential Friar recruits that were in attendance.

Steven Enoch, Hise Rise Elite 2015 The 6’8 power forward played very limited limits due to an illness, but showed why he is highly coveted by major programs. Only 16 years old, the class of 2015 prospect has great quickness and athletic ability around the rim. Other programs interested in Enoch include Creighton and the University of Rhode Island.

Jalen Adams, Mass Rivals 2015 Adams was clearly the best player at the tournament. Each time I see him play he gets better and better. He is athletically superior to anyone on the court and gets to the basket at will and finishes. During the second half of Mass Rivals game against the Nor’East Shooters he put on an absolute clinic with at least a dozen highlight reel type of moves. When asked for a list of schools during the weekend Adams specifically named Providence as one of the schools he is considering. Expect Jalen to be one of the top 10-20 players in the 2015 class nationally by the end of this season.

Jerome Desrosiers, New England Playaz 2017 Jerome had an outstanding tournament at the Jamfest. He is equally adept at shooting from the outside and taking the ball to the basket. Ranked as the no. 6 player in New England for the 2017 class the Northfield Mount Hermon sophomore will pile up the high major offers over the next couple of years.

Josh Sharma, Mass Rivals 2015 The 7’0 center demonstrated the outstanding athletic ability that separates him from other players his size. He had several nice low post moves and was able to finish with ease under the basket. He also got out on the fastbreak for a couple of athletic alley-oop dunks. He is going to have an immediate impact for whichever high major team is able to sign him.

Jarred Reuter, New England Playaz 2915 Jarred had a very solid tournament showcasing his patented low post moves and demonstrating a real nose for the ball on the defensive glass. Jarred also has great court vision for a big man and showed why he is such a great passer. If he continues to work on his conditioning Reuter will be an impact player at the next level.

Markis McDuffie, Sports U 2015 Markis could very well have been the second best player at the Jamfest. The 6’7 small forward from St. Anthony’s in New Jersey has all the tools, demonstrating a nice outside shot, passing skills, and outstanding athletic ability driving to the basket. If the Friars are not yet involved in his recruitment they should get involved as soon as possible.

Curtis Cobb, Mass Rivals, 2015 The 6’5 guard-forward continues to improve his stock with each tournament that he plays in. Currently ranked seventh in New England in the 2015 class by NERR, it is fortunate that Providence got in on his recruitment early as he very well be in high demand for high major programs by the end of the summer.

  2. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  3. Excellent goods from you, man. I have understand your stuff previous to and you’re just extremely fantastic. I really like what you have acquired here, certainly like what you are saying and the way in which you say it. You make it entertaining and you still care for to keep it wise. 4. I think everything said was very reasonable. But, think about this, suppose you added a little information? I am not saying your information is not solid, however suppose you added a title to possibly get people’s attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little vanilla. You could look at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create news titles to get viewers interested. You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab readers interested about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it could make your website a little bit more interesting.
