Report: PC No Longer Recruiting Terrell, Austin to Visit

SNY’s Adam Zagoria reported last night that Providence is “no longer recruiting” Jared Terrell. I wrote here last week that things with Terrell appeared to be trending toward Boston College, where he visited yesterday and “really enjoyed” his visit, according to Adam Finkelstein of ESPN and the New England Recruiting Report.

Terrell, a top 100 shooting guard out of Massachusetts who de-committed from Oklahoma State this spring to play closer to home, is reportedly down to BC and Rhode Island.

This news will lead to questions over who lost interest first, PC or Terrell. Soon after Zagoria’s report a Tweet came from Hoop Dreams Magazine, a local recruiting publication run by Terrell’s AAU coach, stating that Terrell never intended to visit Providence, despite reports to the contrary last week.

As is so often the case when news like this breaks, Providence is set to host another guard this weekend, as Zach Kerker of channel1450.com in Springfield, Illinois is reporting that point guard Larry Austin Jr. will visit Providence this weekend.

Austin de-committed from Tennessee this spring after head coach Cuonzo Martin left for Cal. He is generally regarded as a top 125 recruit in the class of 2014, and was a top 50 recruit early in his career. He’s reportedly a pass first point guard who is known as a terrific defender as well.

Austin visited Xavier last weekend and has also received interest from Georgetown.
