Friar Basketball

Starting Five: Friday Edition

1. Jalen Adams has gone from under the radar recruit to potentially New England’s best player in the class of 2015. Providence was heavily involved, and his head coach lists the Friars as one of the schools still in the hunt, but this appears to be a two team race between UConn and Kansas.

Adams has predictably received many offers. Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Providence are among those who seem to have a lot of interest. But it appears that two schools stand atop his list: UConn and Kansas.

“To be honest with you, they’re the ones,” said Connors. “You can tell by what he says, how he responds. They’re the ones high on his list right now.”

2. But could Kevin Ollie be headed to the NBA? The Lakers reportedly have interest and would hope to leverage Ollie’s friendship with Kevin Durant when he hits the open market.

3. Braxton Blackwell, Jalen Lindsey’s former teammate and class of 2016 star, is blowing up. Ed Cooley and Bob Simon were in Tennessee to watch him play recently. Blackwell is one of the top 30 players in the country according to most rankings.

Basketball coaches from Florida and Providence visited Braxton Blackwell last week, and the CPA sophomore played in one of four big national prospect tournaments over the weekend.

The Gators are one of 15 schools that have made offers to the 6-foot-8 Tennessean player of the year. Assistant Rashon Burno watched him work out at CPA.

Providence coach Ed Cooley and assistant Bob Simon also visited. The Friars also have given him an offer.

4. One-time Providence verbal Naadir Tharpe is transferring from Kansas after three up and down seasons. Tharpe started for the Jayhawks this season, but is looking to head closer to home due to health concerns with his daughter. Tharpe is a Worcester native. It’s unclear if he’ll get a hardship waiver to play next season.

5. The Naismith Hall of Fame Tip-off released their scheduled on Thursday and Providence will take on Florida State, Notre Dame, Navy and Binghamton as part of this event.

Off the bench:

Former Houston head coach James Dickey is now an assistant for Travis Ford at Oklahoma State. PC fans will remember him as Joseph Young’s head coach at Houston.

Cox Sports Adam Finkelstein provided an insightful look into the recruitment of 2014 guard Jared Terrell.

Shelton Mitchell is suddenly one of the top point guards on the market after de-committing from Wake Forest. His head coach was quoted as saying he would not transfer to another ACC school. The heady lefty would be a terrific get for Providence. We’ll see if they get involved.

Air, water, minerals, and organic matter are all components
of healthy soil. The major difficulty when we are faced with the need of extending our homes is deciding what
types of extensiin we need to take advantage of on tthe space of our lot area.

You will get a nide medium bodied soil with loads of nutrients.
