2. Providence College Organizational Theory Class Hosts‘Heat & Soul: The Ed Cooley Story’ Fundraiser

The event will be held on Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

Providence, R.I. – The members of the Providence College School of Business Organizational Theory class will host a fundraiser event benefitting the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State on Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. in Providence College’s Mullaney Gymnasium. The event will entail Friar Men’s Basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley giving a motivational speech about mentorship, leadership, and his life journey from inner-city Providence to being the leader he is today. There will also be a question and answer session, basket raffles, a half-court shot competition and a 50/50 raffle. The Heart & Soul: The Ed Cooley Story is open to families’, students and the Rhode Island Community with a suggested $5 donation. All profits raised from the event will go towards Big Brothers Big Sisters to help them offset the costs associated with mentorships pairs, supplies and trips.

Cox will air a 30-minute documentary on the Friars on Wednesday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Cox Sports will be airing a 30-minute documentary called PC ‘Heart and Soul’ to recap the 2013-14 men’s basketball season on Wednesday, May 14 at 8:00 p.m. The documentary can be seen in Cox HD (1005) and Cox (5).
The Friars finished the 2013-14 season as the BIG EAST Tournament Champions and posted a 23-12 overall record. In the BIG EAST Championship, the Friars topped No. 14 Creighton, 65-58, in the Championship Game at Madison Square Garden. It is Providence’s second BIG EAST Tournament Championship in the 35-year history of the BIG EAST. PC’s season ended after being defeated by North Carolina, 79-77, on Friday, March 21 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Providence was making its 16th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament and its first since 2004.

4. Providence College hosted its 53rd Annual All Sports Gala on Tuesday night and Bryce Cotton was named Male Athlete of the Year.

5. Providence College assisstant hockey coach Jamie Russell resigned on Wednesday to pursue other opportunities in hockey.
