Report: JaQuan Lyle to Visit Providence
- Updated: February 6, 2014
According to Adam Zagoria, JaQuan Lyle is planning on visiting Providence in March after an in-home visit today with Ed Cooley and assistant Bob Simon earlier today. From Zagoria:
JaQuan Lyle is planning to visit Providence in early March, his mother told SNY.tv following a home visit in which she hosted head coach Ed Cooley and assistant Bob Simon at her home in Evansville, Ind.
“We plan on making a visit to Providence on March 3rd or 4th,” Lumecha Garrett told SNY.tv. “I work on the weekends so we’re trying to make some visits during the week if we can.”
She said Cooley and Simon were the first coaches to visit her in Evansville since the 6-foot-5 Lyle decommitted from Louisville and that she was impressed by that.
“Yes, it does [make] a big impression,” Garrett said.
Cooley and Simon were also planning to watch Lyle play Wednesday night at Huntington (W.V.) Prep.
“I like the program, I like the way he talks about the program, what he can do on and off the court with my son,” she said of Cooley.
Lyle is a 6’5 guard who would bring both big time credentials and positional versatility to Providence (think Tyreke Evans). The one-time Louisville commit is listed as a five star recruit by both Rivals (who has him #22 in the class of 2014) and Scout (also #22), while ESPN ranks him 39th in their recently reordered national ratings.
The Indiana native is playing his final high school season at Huntington Prep in West Virginia alongside Friar commit Jalen Lindsey. He’s one of the most sought-after players left in 2014, with Kansas, Oregon, UConn, Memphis and Oklahoma State all in heavy pursuit.
Cooley’s pitch will surely include immediate playing time, as with the loss of Bryce Cotton PC will have loads of it available to any guard the bring aboard this spring.
