Friar Starting Five

While everyone is waiting for tonight’s game against Butler here are some links on five topics that Friar fans may find interesting to start off their day.

1.After the Friars convincing win over Creighton on Saturday few people would have expected Creighton to absolutely destroy 4th ranked Villanova on the road Monday night. Talk about a difference in two games. Wow! Check out these highlights from  the Creighton victory over  Villanova, otherwise known as the Ethan Wragge show:

2.Ed Cooley was the featured guest on the ESPNU Monday College Basketball Podcast with Andy Katz and Seth Greenberg. When commenting about PC Cooley at one point said “I am exactly where I want to be. I feel as if I was born to coach Providence College.” You can listen to the entire podcast here. The interview with Ed Cooley starts at about the 26 minute mark. The podcast also contains a very interesting discussion between Andy and Seth on the controversial Kevin Ollie double technical/ejection during the Connecticut/Louisville game.

3.Based on his outstanding performances against St. John’s and Creighton last week Bryce Cotton was named the Big East Player of the Week. You can check out the press release here.

4.Are you wondering what the Friar staff did after their big victory against Creighton. It seems they spent the rest of the weekend looking at some key recruits for the 2014 and 2015 classes at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.Recruiting scouts and gurus were in abundance at the event as many of the top high school players in the country participated throughout the weekend. Here are a couple of their write-ups on the tournament:
