Craig Leighton previews the upcoming BallasTV Invite.

The Annual BallasTV Invite is taking place this Saturday and Sunday (January 11th-12th) at UMass Boston located at 100 Morrissey Boulevard in Boston. The BallasTV Invite is run by Sherwyn Cooper whose BallasTV site has contributed numerous mix tapes that we’ve posted here at Friarbasketball.com. Some of PC’s top recruiting prospects will be taking part in the event during this weekend.

One of the featured teams at the Invite is Northfield Mount Hermon which features Friar recruits Josh Sharma and Aaron Falzon, who are both considered consensus top 100 players in the 2015 class. Sharma is a 7’0 athletic center and Falzon is a 6’7 forward with a great outside shooting touch. Both players have been to Providence multiple times and both were at the PC Elite Camp this past August.

The 2017 class in New England may be one of the best classes the region has seen, and the top player in that class may very well be Jermaine Samuels whose Rivers team will be taking on Kiski Prep on Saturday. Friarbasketball.com’s Kevin Farrahar recently had a chance to see Samuels play and broke down his game in this report.

In the 2016 class there may be no greater athlete than point guard Unique McLean. The high-flying McLean and his Hoosac team will be playing both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

A very interesting team playing here this weekend is Commonwealth Academy, a team composed entirely of 2017 players. Many of these players are going to wind up being high major recruits in a couple of years.

Some other players taking part in the tournament who PC has interest in include:
Jared Wilson-Frame 6’5 SG Believe Prep 2015
Jarvis Garrett 6’2 PG Notre Dame Prep 2014
Matt Cimino 6’10 PF Worcester Academy 2014
Terrell Brown 6’9 C/PF St. Andrew’s Academy 2016
Jerome Derosiers 6’6 F Northfield Mount Hermon 2017
Saul Phiri 6’3 G Worcester Academy 2016

Other players of note that will be on had include Jaquil Taylor of Beaver Country Day (committed to Purdue), Terrance Mann of Tilton, Detrik Mostrella of Kiski Prep (committed to Pittsburgh), and Bonzie Colson of St. Andrews (committed to Notre Dame)
