Providence Suspends Brandon Austin & Rodney Bullock
- Updated: November 6, 2013
The below statement was released by the school earlier this afternoon. Unfortunately, we do not have any further information share.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced today that Providence College freshmen basketball players Brandon Austin (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Rodney Bullock (Hampton, Va.) have been suspended from game action indefinitely for not upholding their responsibilities as student-athletes.
“We hold our student-athletes to very high standards,” Providence College Men’s Basketball Coach Ed Cooley said. “We are disappointed in some of the choices that Brandon and Rodney have made. Due to this, we have decided to suspend them indefinitely from any game action.”
The Friars will open the season on Friday, November 8 versus Boston College at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 6 p.m.
It’s important to remain positive and support this team. Let’s not forget that this is the same PC team, minus Vincent Council, that won nine of their final thirteen games last season, without Austin or Bullock. Additionally, how often does a freshman come in and have a major impact in their first ever collegiate game? Not that often. The suspensions are disappointing, no way of refuting that, but letting them damper the excitement for Friday would be a mistake.
