Brewster Once Again One to Watch

Perhaps no program in the country has churned out as many quality high major Division I players in recent seasons than Brewster Academy.

2013-14 will be no different for Jason Smith’s Bobcats. Brewster returns Chris McCullough (#7 in 2014 per ESPN), a Syracuse commit who may have more NBA potential than any player in New England. Smith also welcomes back 2014 guards Jared Terrell and Kevin Zabo (San Diego State), who’ll be joined by 2014 power forward Isaac Copeland (the 47th ranked player nationally per ESPN) who is committed to Georgetown.

The underclassmen are of particular interest to Providence fans. Earlier this summer it was announced that bruising power forward Jarred Reuter (2015) is transferring in from Tabor Academy, and this weekend star 2015 guard Donovan Mitchell announced on his Twitter account that he’d be headed to Wolfeboro, NH for the final two years of his high school career.

As noted on the New England Recruiting Report, Mitchell was named NEPSAC Class B Co-Player of the Year after averaging 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals per game this past season.

Look for Mitchell’s stock to explode in the upcoming season after he missed most of the summer with a wrist injury. Syracuse recently made contact with the 6’3 guard.
