In the midst of winning six of seven games, Providence put together one of their best performances of the season in defeating St. John’s 62-59 on March 2. After the game St. John’s coach Steve Lavin put his support behind Ed Cooley for the conference’s coach of the year, as it was all coming together for PC late in the season.
Bryce Cotton was once again stellar, hitting five 3 pointers on his way to 24 points, Kadeem Batts added 15 points and 9 boards of his own, while Friar fans started to see the real Kris Dunn – the really good version. The freshman dominated the first half and finished with 12 rebounds and five assists.
With the win Providence evened their Big East record at 8-8.
